The Single Domestic: front porch

It’s February first and I spent a few minutes popping up our meager Valentine’s Day decor. A wreath on the front door, red ribbons for the dogs and some rather sad looking pansies (clearly they need Sister’s touch) dress up the front portico.

And a DIY pom pom garland and the requisite much anticipated cinnamon jelly heart candies (which I promptly removed to a hiding place after this photo) in the foyer round out the welcome.

And I spent a whopping $6 at Michael’s to do it! While I was there I picked up the same exact picks in the St. Patrick’s Day version.

So, ladies, that’s the extent of our Valentine’s decor for the year. Now, I’ve got to go start enjoying the weekend :-)

Valentine's Day Decor

While I really only go crazy with decor for Christmas and Halloween, I almost always have a little something around for the other holidays. For Valentine's Day, I put up the wreath I made last year and festooned the dogs with their red XOXO ribbons.

The entry way received a quick little DIY pom pom and XO garland (see how here) and a bowl of cinnamon jelly hearts (hands down my favorite thing about the holiday.) The X and O are red glittered ornaments scored 75% off from Byrd's Cookie Company at their after Christmas sale. (Thanks Sister for pointing them out.)

And in the basement I put out the little's Valentine's runner and stuffed alligator. The remnants of the pom pom garland made their way to top off the chalkboard.
