Reclaimed and Renamed!

Such beautiful things can be made from re-claimed wood and they're making their way into our homes by way of storage, tables, furniture, even stairs cases.  Why throw away when you can create something useful and aesthetic for the home without damaging any more forests than we have to.

In My Spare time

Hi everyone! 

Just a reminder that the Open House Party is on Spring Break for the

next few weeks.  I'll still be posting and visiting you, so please don't

go anywhere.

I had a little bit of spare time to work on some much delayed

projects.  Nothing earth shattering, but I am still happy to check these

off my to-do list.

  After Christmas I found a wreath holder on clearance and thought

it would make a great stand for my chalkboard. I spray painted the

stand and added picture wire to the tray with hot glue. I plan to use

it for hanging small signs and pictures too.

I found this old frame at a thrift store for a few dollars and painted

it white.  Hubby cut a piece of scrap wood to fit inside the frame and I

painted it with chalkboard paint. 

Easy Peasy but a great addition to our kitchen.

I am currently working on another project involving two chairs I purchased

off Craigslist.  The upholstery was very stained and the finish was a shiny surface

typical of the furniture included in a condo package.  If you have ever rented a

condo at the beach with 1980's furniture you know what I mean.

Even with all their problems I could see hope for these ugly ducklings.

unique transformation.

I'm still in love with pastels after my Easter Inspiration post and consequently this week found myself drawn to all things pastel, food, interiors and crafts. We hope you had a lovely weekend, we had the prettiest blue sky today, not a cloud to be seen. I spent the morning walking round the bays but not actually entering the "Round the Bays" run. I returned home and had a big clean out of my studio and a bit of a re-shuffle. Poppy is paddling around waiting for her dinner so I better get this post published quickly before she starts to get annoyed with me ☺

Inspiration Week 1, 2013 - Interior Ideas/DIY, Recipes & More

Christmas and New Year is finally over and it's back to the drawing board, so to speak. Currently I'm spending time working between the blog and preparing my mothers house for sale. I can't start my art again until I have sold my mothers house, there is just too much going on, although I have lots of beautiful Peony Images, and itching to get started. I haven't featured my regular weekly inspiration post since Christmas, so I have spent time the past few days looking for fabulous ideas to share with you and really pleased with the ones I've found.

A few simple styling ideas for Spring/Summer entertaining ...

I don't know about you, but my mouth is watering right now, It'  just so hot here in Auckland and I'm definitely in need of an ice cream. Maybe I will cheat a little and head down to our Movenpick store by the beach. However, I most definitely will be making some strawberry cheesecake ice cream to try out on my boys over the weekend, (My big boys who have left home, often drop in when they are hungry).
